The Fort Belknap Environmental GIS/GPS program uses GIS/GPS technologies to collect spatial field data, navigate to specific coordinates or sites, create maps, and analyze spatial data.


What is GIS? GIS is a collection of computer hardware, software, and geographic data that is used for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information.

What is GPS? GPS is a system that uses satellites and receivers to triangulate your position on Earth and has the capability to navigate you to any coordinates or position on land or water. The most commonly used coordinate system is Latitude and Longitude.
